From 1998 through 2009, Ryan was a member of legendary Houston ska band, The Suspects. The Suspects released 4 albums (and were featured on numerous compilations) over their career, and Ryan is featured on their last album, Lost Along the Way, recorded in 2000.
From 2001 through 2004, Ryan was a member of Clouseaux, Houston’s premier lounge and exotica experience. He is featured on the following albums Clouseaux, Destination: Oasis and Lagoon!
Currently, Ryan plays regularly with Fried Ice Cream, Houston’s top variety band. Fried Ice Cream can be found performing on most weekends at public venues such as Sullivan’s Ringside, Sambuca, Sammy’s at 2016 or Cullen’s Live. Ryan acts as a musical director and arranger/copyist for the group, in addition to playing trombone. In 2009, the band released its first original recordings which featured horn arrangements by Ryan Gabbart.
